When people find out I'm coming to Sierra Vista from Tucson they ask me to pick up German pastries from here for them. No joke. I've catered from here, eaten here myself, and sampled many pastries. I've enjoyed all. I'm Czech, so a grew up eating similar pastries. These are in fact, authentic. One of the people I've picked up food for and taken back to Tucson is German and claims this is the place to get their fix. Last time I tried their potato soup, which doesn't sound exciting, I'm sure, but it was exactalty as it should be if you had ordered it in Germany. It's a little off the beaten path ( also known as not being right off Fry Blvd), but make a stop here next time and try something. If you come at lunch you'll see just how popular this place is..

This place is definitely a hidden gem and looks like a family business (I could be wrong) but they sure operate like a family. The ladies behind the counter and the people from the kitchen are very friendly. I was sitting down eating my delicious coconut macaroon, and one of the lady said fresh potato pancakes. I asked her if I can order one because I never had it, she said no, because you are getting one on the house. Not only was the pancake was extremely good, but the chef from kitchen came out personally and ask if I liked it...cmon man, how friendly can these people get? This place is awesome !! !!!!!Oh and they have all of the flavors from Haribo. The flavors you can't get anywhere else!!! Never had their lunch but the menu looked pretty good.

One might ask what is a spoiled city girl like me doing in Sierra Vista, Az of all places !!!! Well, for work and not pleasure, of course. The plus side of having to travel for work to very small and forgotten towns like this one is finding unique eateries such as Bobke's Breadbasket konditorie! Breadbasket is a small family owned German restaurant/ bakery nestled in a very tiny city of Sierra Vista, about 75 miles south of Tucson, AZ. It has a small menu but should satisfy anyone's taste buds. Soups, salads, sandwiches and their famous Schnitzel dish amongst other things. They also have variety of freshly baked goods which makes your mouth water and your eyes twinkle! What did I order? Why, of course, nothing but an order of Schnitzel (lightly breaded pork loin) covered with a mouthwatering Rohm gravy as Germans call it, with a side of cooked sweated red cabbage, and Spätzle noodles! Ooooops! How did I forget the Fresh homemade pretzel bun with butter that I was served before food. Shame on me! It was so gooooood! The Schnitzel was cut thin, crisp, and cooked to perfection--just the way I like it. The red cabbage was ehhh, ok, definitely not as good as the one my German boyfriend cooks for me at home. No offense Breadbasket! The noodles, I never had those before and I liked it! (Note to BF) Service - Good and friendly. Price- Average. Inside/ decor- Clean but outdated. Would I come back and eat here again? Well, that all depends on if I get sent here again or not ! If you ever pass by this town, you gotta stop by this place!

I absolutely love this place! Their bakery items are amazing, and I have to tell myself not to eat too many. I've ordered a cake from them which turned out amazing. The grocery area has a lot of great options too. It is a little hidden spot, but once you try it you will be back again and again.

Looking for delicious baked sweets and breads in Sierra Vista? Skip the grocery stores - go to the BREADBASKET - You will fall in love with the place! The Breadbasket truly is gem, with so many different treats to choose from - since everything is made fresh daily, the earlier you get there in the morning after opening, the grander the selection will be for you to choose. Chocolate croissants are to die for, as are their simple butter cookies...and the pastries! So delicate and fresh...I practically inhale them (the light sprinkling of powdered sugar slows me down!). I enjoy going to the shop and picking different ones to try - it's perfect for when company spends the night and you need a little extra somethin'something to make coffee time/breakfast time more special. The girls behind the counter always pack the chosen delights well, so they arrive home looking just as beautiful as in the store. They also have a selection of german import candies (HARIBRO) which are difficult to find elsewhere in Sierra Vista....or Arizona in general! Their sit-down meal food options are simple, and range from traditional german fare (schnitzel) to typical lunchtime sandwiches and soups, and salads. Similar to their baked goods, the meals are prepared with care and with fresh ingredients. They are always are delicious! Great place...and don't forget to get some of those cookies to go - after you try them, you'll be craving them later in the night, and you will have wished you had! :)
